Headstone has arrived
I got a call this morning from the gal at the cemetery where my mother rests, the headstone arrived and is in a temporary cradle deal now. The ground is too frozen at the moment to allow them to properly seat it in the ground, so it will rest in the cradle deal through the winter and be properly placed when the ground thaws out next spring.
Dad was saying that he would like to go out there and see what they have placed there, make sure that it matches up to the information that we provided to them. There had been several problems on paper with getting the right information. Definitely want to double check that the name is spelled right and the dates are all proper and his rank is right on the headstone. Why none of them can understand what Spc 7 is is beyond us, I guess it is the fact that they retired that rank not long after dad got it, but still, people, you are military, you should know what all them ranks are. Shouldn’t they?
