For over 20 years, as a Family Caregiver, I have compassionately and sacrificed, in giving care to friends and family. Nearly went homeless, after having to leave my teenagers, to care for my mother out of state. Recently, a brother demised, 2006, after caregiving 6 years, could not hold a job. Then, in the 6th year, a caregiver, recommended me to a family as a relief for the caregivers in that family. September, 2007, I received a call to relocate to Denver, Colorado to assist my daughter, whose blind, and have other health issues, and grandson. It is so amazing how someone can step up to the plate and write a bill for all of the caregivers. I know at least 5 other caregiver, who care for a friend or for their families. It is so rewarding. If I have to do it again, I would. After not driving for 18 years, I took a drivers coarse, and a church ministry, donated a really nice car. August 17, 2007. What is so interesting, I drove 1241 miles over the Great Continental Divide to be with my family as a caregive. Many prayers ascended, and there were no incidents, a wonderful venture. I had wonderful friends who helped me pack, and after stepping out on faith to work as a paid caregiver, I was able to save, and trying now to franchise into seeking investors to loan or give grants to own my own caregiver services. It is so rich and rewarding to get up in the am, prepare an excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner. To interact with a senior or some that has an artistic child, or just can not cook a meal any more. I am so blessed as a professional caregiver, a former nursing student.
Thanks for an opportunity to share a part of my story and comments.
